Role Summary:
Mount Mary University is in search of a dedicated and compassionate professional to fill the role of Assistant Director of Financial Aid & Veterans Services. This pivotal position within the Financial Aid & Veterans Services department is essential for supporting the Director in the administration of financial aid programs while ensuring adherence to all relevant federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Regulatory Adherence: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations that govern financial aid programs. Ensure that all operations comply with these regulations and participate in necessary audits and reviews. Provide training and support to staff on regulatory updates and best practices.
• Operational Management: Assist in the coordination and management of all financial aid operations. Guarantee the accurate and timely processing of financial aid applications, awards, and disbursements. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
• Student Guidance and Counseling: Provide expert advice to students and families regarding financial aid options, eligibility criteria, and application procedures. Address inquiries and resolve issues related to financial aid offers and discrepancies. Conduct workshops and presentations to educate the community about financial planning.
• Financial Aid Program Development: Contribute to the creation and implementation of financial aid programs and initiatives. Analyze data and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of financial aid services and suggest improvements. Collaborate with various departments to ensure a cohesive delivery of financial aid services.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and mentor financial aid staff, offering professional development opportunities. Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and excellence. Assist the Director in strategic planning related to financial aid operations and support the counseling team during peak periods.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Prior experience as a Financial Aid Administrator is essential.
• Familiarity with PowerFAIDS, Jenzabar EX, and Slate is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively interact with prospective and current students.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Capable of reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting.
• Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods.
• Some repetitive motions may be necessary.
Work Environment:
• Availability for up to 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Workload may vary; periods of high stress may occur during peak times.
