Clinical Operations Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Operations Coordinator collaborates with the Facility Manager, medical personnel, and support staff to oversee the daily operations of the healthcare facility, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care in line with organizational standards and protocols. This role encompasses nursing support, staff management, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive quality assurance initiatives by adhering to regulatory standards and implementing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices.
- Ensure the highest quality of patient care by collaborating with senior management to uphold facility policies and procedures.
- Proactively address and manage adverse events, ensuring compliance with established action thresholds.
- Oversee data collection and auditing processes, maintaining the integrity of medical and operational records.
- Lead and guide facility staff in executing safe and effective vascular access procedures, adhering to established guidelines.
- Delegate tasks to direct patient care staff, including RNs and support personnel, to optimize workflow.
- Manage daily staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and addressing patient care needs effectively.
- Monitor and evaluate patient care staff to ensure adherence to facility protocols and provide assistance as needed.
- Assist in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions in conjunction with the Facility Manager.
- Participate in staff training and orientation, enhancing team competencies.
- Coordinate patient care processes from admission to discharge, ensuring comprehensive education for patients and their families regarding vascular access procedures.
- Facilitate timely scheduling of patient procedures, maximizing facility utilization.
- In emergency situations, assume primary responsibility and maintain proficiency in emergency procedures, including CPR.
- Administer medications and IV sedation in accordance with physician directives and regulatory standards.
- Engage in meetings with the Governing Body and CQI initiatives, contributing to agenda preparation and data collection.
- Ensure the proper functioning of medical equipment and technology within the facility.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, conducting regular inspections and addressing any operational issues.
- Participate in cost management initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and revision of facility policies and procedures to foster continuous improvement.
- Manage medication inventory, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensure medical records are complete and compliant prior to patient discharge, conducting regular audits.
- Participate in regulatory surveys and action plans to address identified deficiencies.
- Act as the Facility Manager in their absence, overseeing operations and staff responsibilities.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information and medical records.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice and state regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This role requires desk work, computer usage, and interaction with patients and staff. Travel between facilities may be necessary.
- The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility, with controlled temperatures and moderate noise levels, with potential exposure to infectious materials.
SUPERVISION:
- Direct supervision of patient care staff, including RNs, LPNs, and support personnel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (R.N.) with current state licensure and ACLS certification.
- Preferred experience in an Ambulatory Surgical Center or similar environment.
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with medical database software.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with certifications in BLS and ACLS.
