POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Operations Supervisor collaborates with the Facility Manager, medical personnel, and support staff to streamline facility operations and patient care processes, ensuring the delivery of exceptional healthcare services in alignment with organizational policies and protocols. This role provides essential nursing support to both patients and staff, overseeing staffing, training, equipment management, and compliance with regulatory standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive quality assurance initiatives by adhering to regulatory standards and implementing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices.
- Ensure the highest quality of patient care by working closely with management to uphold organizational policies and procedures.
- Proactively address and manage adverse events and compliance thresholds.
- Maintain the integrity of medical records and participate in data collection and auditing activities.
- Supervise facility staff in delivering safe and effective vascular access procedures, adhering to established guidelines.
- Delegate tasks to nursing staff, radiology technologists, and administrative personnel as necessary.
- Manage daily staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and appropriate patient care assignments.
- Monitor patient care techniques and adherence to facility protocols, providing assistance as needed.
- Support the Facility Manager in conducting staff performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Facilitate staff training and orientation programs.
- Coordinate patient care from admission to discharge, ensuring comprehensive education for patients and their families regarding vascular access procedures.
- Oversee the scheduling of patient procedures to optimize facility utilization.
- Assist with direct patient care and monitoring during procedures as required.
- Ensure thorough documentation of patient treatments and compliance with facility policies.
- Verify the completion of necessary documentation, including lab work and consent forms.
- Act decisively in emergency situations, maintaining proficiency in emergency protocols and procedures.
- Administer medications and IV sedation as directed by physicians, in compliance with regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement meetings and collaborate with medical staff on agenda items.
- Ensure proper functioning of medical equipment and maintain a safe, sanitary environment within the facility.
- Address blood spills in accordance with safety protocols.
- Contribute to cost control measures by managing supplies and medications efficiently.
- Assist in the development and revision of facility policies to promote continuous improvement.
- Document and report on CQI activities and participate in required meetings.
- Manage medication inventory, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Communicate with pharmacists to ensure medication accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.
- Engage in regulatory and accreditation surveys, addressing any identified deficiencies.
- Maintain accurate records for implanted devices in accordance with management guidelines.
- Assume managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Facility Manager.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information and medical records.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This role involves a combination of desk work and direct interaction with patients and staff.
- Travel between facilities may be required, along with attendance at regional and corporate meetings.
- The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility, with controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program (R.N.) with current state licensure and ACLS certification.
- Preferred experience includes a minimum of three years in an Ambulatory Surgical Center or related healthcare setting.
- Supervisory experience in a medical environment is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with medical database software is required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
