OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE:
Collaborates with the Facility Manager, medical personnel, and support staff to streamline facility operations and patient procedures, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care daily, in alignment with organizational policies, protocols, and training.
Provides essential nursing support to both patients and staff.Assists in staffing, staff education, equipment management, physician and patient interactions, cost efficiency, supply oversight, medical documentation, patient billing, OSHA compliance, and adherence to all organizational, state, and federal regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Drives the organization’s quality standards by meeting regulatory obligations and practicing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), utilizing organizational CQI tools.
- Ensures exceptional quality of patient care, as defined by organizational quality objectives, by collaborating with the Vice President of Quality and other management to uphold ASC policies and procedures.
- Proactively addresses and manages adverse events and action thresholds.
- Adheres to all data collection and auditing protocols, maintaining the integrity of medical records and other administrative and operational documentation.
- Supervises and guides facility staff in delivering safe and effective vascular access procedures, in compliance with established facility policies and regulations set by the organization and governmental agencies.
- Assigns and delegates responsibilities to all direct patient care personnel, including Staff RNs, Radiology Technologists, and Front Desk Coordinators.
- Ensures adequate staffing through effective management of staff schedules, including breaks.
- Evaluates daily patient needs and appropriately develops and distributes patient care assignments.
- Regularly monitors patient care staff for adherence to proper techniques and facility policies, providing assistance as needed.
- Recommends and initiates disciplinary actions in collaboration with the Facility Manager.
- Aids the Facility Manager in conducting staff performance evaluations.
- Participates in the recruitment, orientation, and training of staff as assigned.
- Conducts and organizes in-service training regarding equipment, supplies, and clinical practices for all personnel.
- Coordinates all facets of patient care with relevant staff members, from admission to discharge.
- Educates patients and their families on pre and post-procedure care related to vascular access.
- Ensures timely scheduling of patient procedures and efficient utilization of facility capacity.
- As necessary, assists with patient workflow, including providing direct patient care and monitoring during pre, intra, and post-procedure phases.
- Oversees and guarantees accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient treatments from admission through discharge.
- Confirms that written orders, consents, and laboratory work are completed and documented in accordance with facility policies, including proper preparation of lab requisitions and reporting of lab results to the appropriate physician.
- Takes primary responsibility in emergency situations, maintaining competency in all emergency operational procedures, and initiating CPR and emergency measures as required.
- Administers medications and IV conscious sedation to patients as directed by physician orders, in compliance with organizational, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Attends and engages in Governing Body and CQI meetings with physicians, assisting with meeting agendas and gathering data/materials for reporting on assigned topics.
- Ensures proper operation of facility equipment and technology, including patient monitors, defibrillators, medical recording devices, and computers.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the vascular access facility through regular inspections of equipment and operational systems, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Ensures immediate response to blood spills in accordance with organizational Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies.
- Participates in cost control initiatives, ensuring efficiency in the use of medications, laboratory services, inventory, supplies, and equipment to meet supply cost objectives, following established guidelines.
- Assists in the development and revision of relevant policies and procedures for the facility to ensure ongoing process improvement.
- Initiates, documents, and completes ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, including monthly reports and attendance at required meetings.
- Manages medications, including ordering, receiving, inventory control, and checking for expired medications, ensuring appropriate recording of controlled substances as mandated by law.
- Oversees the maintenance of usage logs for all medications with appropriate documentation and records of drug disposal.
- Communicates with pharmacists to ensure medication accuracy, including appropriate recording of controlled substances as required by law.
- Ensures medical records are accurate, complete, and compliant with organizational policies and procedures prior to patient discharge, performing regular chart audits.
- Participates in all facility regulatory and accreditation surveys and develops action plans to address any identified deficiencies.
- Verifies that records for all implanted devices are completed accurately, timely, and maintained according to records management guidelines.
- Acts as the Facility Manager in the absence of the manager or as directed by organizational management.
- Holds appointed positions within the Governing Body, taking on primary roles or overseeing staff in designated positions.
- Complies with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient information and medical records.
- Maintains CLIA license with the Facility Administrator.
- Performs other duties as assigned, within the scope of practice and state regulations.

- Daily responsibilities include desk and personal computer work, along with interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians. The position requires travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community. Attendance at regional, Business Unit, and Corporate meetings may be necessary.
- The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility, featuring controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels. Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials may occur.
- Direct supervision of facility patient care staff (Staff RNs, LPNs, Radiology Technologists, Surgical staff, Front Desk Coordinators)
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (R.N.)
- Current appropriate state licensure and ACLS certification.
- ASC certification preferred.
- A minimum of three years' experience is preferred in an Ambulatory Surgical Center/Vascular Access Lab, or a combination of ASC, surgical, Interventional Radiology, and ICU/CCU experience.
- A minimum of three years of Interventional Radiology and scrub experience is preferred.
- Supervisory or management experience within a medical or vascular access environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is necessary, along with experience in medical database software.
- Demonstrated management skills are essential for providing leadership and supervision of facility personnel, ensuring the delivery of maximum quality care to all patients.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Certification in BLS & ACLS with successful completion of course certifications.
