Job SummaryThis role is integral to the Human Resources department, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency within the HR function. The incumbent will serve as a key resource in various HR competencies, including recruitment, employee relations, policy adherence, benefits management, and data analysis. The primary focus will be on overseeing the employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, recruitment, and performance management.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment, Hiring, and Onboarding (50%) -
Manage employee transactions within the HR Information System (HRIS) to ensure accurate compensation and benefits.
Facilitate the hiring process, including background checks and compliance with employment regulations.
Conduct orientations for new hires and assist with benefits enrollment.
Prepare employment offer letters and maintain personnel records in compliance with regulations.
Provide guidance on benefits-related inquiries and support employees with various HR matters.
Assist in the recruitment process by crafting job descriptions, posting vacancies, and reviewing applications.
Conduct exit interviews and support offboarding processes.
Participate in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
Benefits Administration (30%) -
Process employee separations and communicate with relevant benefit administrators.
Ensure compliance with rehired retiree employment verification.
Address inquiries related to unemployment claims.
Support annual events such as open enrollment and retiree receptions.
Assist with Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and ADA accommodation requests.
Training and Other Duties as Assigned (20%) -
Contribute to HR initiatives and perform additional duties as required.
Assist in maintaining the HR webpage and employee directory.
Develop and deliver training sessions related to human resources.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Required Experience
A minimum of 3 years in a human resources generalist role or similar position.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Experience
Experience within the University System of Georgia or in higher education.
Familiarity with PeopleSoft HCM or similar systems.
Knowledge of recruitment strategies and applicant tracking systems.
Understanding of current employment laws and regulations.
Familiarity with human resources principles and practices.
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
