Position OverviewThis role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the Human Resources (HR) department, particularly within the USG eCampus Human Resources team. The incumbent will act as a subject matter authority in key HR functions, including recruitment, employment processes, policy adherence, benefits management, onboarding, and data analysis.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment, Hiring, and Onboarding (50%) -
- Oversee and maintain employee records in the HRIS to guarantee precise compensation and benefits.
- Facilitate the hiring process, including background checks and compliance with employment regulations.
- Conduct orientations for new hires and assist with benefits enrollment.
- Draft offer letters for various employment changes.
- Ensure proper maintenance of employee files in accordance with legal standards.
- Provide guidance on benefits-related inquiries, including FMLA, workers' compensation, and retirement plans.
- Advise employees on HR policies and legal requirements.
- Support recruitment efforts by developing job descriptions and managing the applicant tracking system.
- Conduct exit interviews and manage off-boarding processes.
- Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
Benefits Administration (30%) -
- Manage employee separations and communicate with relevant benefit administrators.
- Ensure verification of employment for rehired retirees.
- Address inquiries related to unemployment claims.
- Assist in monitoring reports from the Shared Services Center.
- Support annual events such as open enrollment.
- Coordinate documentation for FMLA and ADA requests.
Training and Additional Duties (20%) -
- Collaborate with MGA Human Resources on assigned initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Aid in maintaining the HR webpage and employee directory.
- Develop and deliver training sessions related to human resources.
Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Minimum of 3 years in a human resources generalist role or similar capacity.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the University System of Georgia or in higher education settings.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft HCM or similar systems.
- Knowledge of recruitment strategies and applicant tracking systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of federal and state employment laws.
- Strong grasp of human resources principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
