Position Overview

The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a pivotal role in supporting the Human Resources department's operations, particularly within the USG eCampus Human Resources team. This position is essential for managing various HR functions, including recruitment, employee onboarding, policy adherence, benefits management, and data reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment, Hiring, and Onboarding (50%) -
- Oversee and maintain employee transactions within the HRIS to guarantee accurate payroll and benefits.
- Facilitate the hiring process, including background checks and compliance with employment regulations.
- Conduct employee orientations and assist with benefits enrollment.
- Prepare and issue offer letters for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
- Ensure compliance with record-keeping policies by maintaining employee personnel files.
- Provide guidance on various benefits-related inquiries, including FMLA and retirement questions.
- Support recruitment efforts by developing job descriptions and managing job postings.
- Conduct exit interviews and manage off-boarding processes.
- Participate in the development of departmental guidelines and procedures.

Benefits Administration (30%) -
- Process employee separations and notify relevant benefit administrators.
- Ensure accurate employment verification for rehired retirees.
- Address inquiries related to unemployment claims.
- Assist in monitoring reports from the Shared Services Center.
- Support annual events such as open enrollment.

Training and Additional Duties (20%) -
- Contribute to various HR initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as required.
- Assist in maintaining the HR webpage and online employee directory.
- Develop and deliver training related to human resources.

Qualifications

Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a human resources generalist role or similar position.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with the University System of Georgia or higher education settings.
- Experience with PeopleSoft HCM or similar systems.
- Knowledge of recruitment practices and applicant tracking systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Understanding of current federal and state employment laws.
- Strong knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
