Head of Employee Relations

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with the Employee Relations leadership to formulate, define, and implement the employee relations and HR investigation framework.
• Offers employee relations guidance, support, and training to critical HR partners (HRBPs, Divisional and Group HR leaders), as well as other cross-functional stakeholders, on various topics, including performance management, disciplinary actions, accommodations, leaves of absence, contingent workforce issues, compensation and benefits, wage & hour matters, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
• Conducts investigations and recommends solutions for intricate employee relations issues in partnership with HRBPs, HR Leadership, and Legal, ensuring thorough documentation and tracking of all inquiries.
• Oversees a team of Employee Relations investigators responsible for managing multiple employee relations cases concurrently. Holds the team accountable for delivering high-quality investigations promptly, ensuring swift resolutions.
• Analyzes HR investigations, employee relations, and other data trends to identify and mitigate risks while supporting and promoting a culture of integrity. Shares insights and formulates strategies and recommendations to address and alleviate concerns.
• Develops employment-related processes and documentation, providing guidance and training as necessary.
• Contributes to policies, standards, and business procedures aimed at ensuring compliance with various employment laws and regulations, fostering work environments characterized by trust, fairness, and inclusion.
• Acts as a resource for employees, managers, and leaders navigating complex workplace challenges by offering practical and thoughtful advice that aligns with Stryker's values.
• Designs and delivers training sessions for business leaders, managers, HR Leaders, and HRBPs.
• Coordinates with compliance and legal teams regarding employee discipline for compliance investigations that do not pertain to work environment matters. May also assist in these investigations.
• Appropriately evaluates risks, demonstrating consideration for Stryker's values and adherence to applicable laws, rules, and regulations, while applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting issues transparently.
• Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding current and emerging laws and regulations.
• Upholds the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
Education & Special Training:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.
- A degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
- PHR/SPHR certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience is required.
- 8+ years of HRBP, employee relations, or investigations experience is required.
- Global HR experience is preferred.
- People management experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with leaders at all levels to provide effective and strategic employee relations counsel.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven capability to handle highly confidential matters while maintaining absolute discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Outstanding written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated objectivity, sensitivity, and balanced perspective regarding employee concerns and organizational needs.
- Impeccable judgment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to present information in a clear, concise, executive-level format.
- Proficient problem solver.
- Solutions-oriented and customer service-focused.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations applicable to employee relations.
- Proven ability to drive programs, lead teams through change, and meet deliverables in a complex environment.
- Must be capable of delivering results under tight deadlines and in a rapidly changing regulatory and business landscape.
Travel Percentage: 10%
