Job Title: EHS Class Aide

Job Summary:

The EHS Class Aide will provide daily assistance in the Early Head Start classroom, working alongside the Lead Teacher and Teacher to create an educational environment for all children enrolled. This role requires a team player who can assist with daily activities, provide one-on-one attention to children with special needs, and maintain a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily activities in the Early Head Start center, including classroom, bathroom, mealtimes, playground, and field trips.
  • Provide one-on-one attention to children with special needs, as well as assist with documentation of required paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, including ensuring emergency supplies are properly stored.
  • Report all accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Participate in Early Head Start training, attend parent committee meetings, center staff meetings, and other training as required.
  • Work cooperatively with all Head Start/Early Head Start staff.
  • Understand and adhere to the Child Abuse and Neglect Policy, and report incidents accordingly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess or obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within six months of hire date.
  • Knowledge of program curriculum, developmentally appropriate practice, and related program performance standards.
  • Ability to relate to children and parents in a positive, constructive manner.
  • Develop and implement classroom activities based on children's individual needs.
  • Work well with other center staff, parents, and managers.
  • Maintain conduct that promotes a positive image to staff, parents, agency, and community.
  • Pass background screen, child abuse/neglect screen, drug screen, and be subject to random drug testing.

Working Conditions:

The EHS Class Aide will work in a fast-paced environment, with potential risks of exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, as well as communicable diseases. The role requires the ability to lift 55 pounds, climb into the school bus, bend, kneel, and squat frequently, as well as stand for long periods of time.
