Family Support Specialist

The Family Education Support Program (FESP) is a focused, short-term intervention initiative designed to assist families facing crises where at least one child is at risk of being removed from their home due to various forms of abuse, neglect, or family instability.
The primary objective of this program is to maintain family unity while ensuring the safety of children and equipping families with essential skills for successful cohabitation.
The FESP Specialist is responsible for managing a limited caseload, typically starting with no more than 5 cases requiring intensive support, but may extend to 8 cases as they progress to a less intensive service level.
This role offers a flexible work schedule, allowing the Specialist to be available to families during their most critical times.
The FESP Specialist will implement an agency-approved evidence-based parenting program and utilize the NCFAS framework in developing tailored case service plans.
Responsibilities/Duties- Administrative Duties
Complies with established regulations, policies, and procedures of the agency and its specific components.
Participates in seminars, conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional skills and job performance as directed by the supervisor, pending approval from the Program Manager.
Acts in an advisory capacity to other professionals in specialized areas through participation in conferences and meetings aimed at diagnosis and treatment planning.
Interprets agency programs, policies, and procedures to individuals, groups, and agencies as assigned by the Program Manager.
- Case Management
Collaborates closely with educational institutions, social service agencies, healthcare facilities, and community resources to address client needs and assist them in accessing available resources.
Maintains accurate documentation and record-keeping as required by specific agency programs in a timely manner as directed by the supervisor.
- Direct Service
Engages with the Juvenile Court, Probation System, and educational institutions to facilitate the referral and feedback process.
Collects necessary information from clients, families, and significant others to identify social, economic, health, or physical challenges, assisting clients in accessing a broad range of services and treatments.
Provides direct clinical, advocacy, and supportive services to individual clients and their families to help them achieve a more satisfactory adjustment to their specific challenges, including individual, family, and group therapy.
- Supervision
This position reports to the Program Supervisor for guidance, monitoring, and evaluation of job performance.
