Foster Care Support Specialist

Are you passionate about fostering development and enhancing the quality of life for children and families? CONCERN is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on delivering child welfare, juvenile justice, and behavioral health services.
We are seeking a part-time, flexible foster care support specialist to contribute to our mission of improving lives. In this fulfilling role, you will report to the program supervisor and act as the primary contact between foster families, biological parents, county agencies, the judicial system, and other relevant parties to ensure the safety, stability, and well-being of all clients in CONCERN foster homes.
This position will involve travel that can be reimbursed.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related discipline (Required)
- Two years of relevant experience and/or training (Preferred)
Additional Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- All necessary clearances must be maintained
- Ability to effectively utilize standard office equipment
- Exemplary communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients by evaluating their needs, facilitating home placements, addressing concerns, motivating change, resolving issues, and providing information.
- Offer on-call and office case management/support services to children and foster families during routine and crisis situations.
- Conduct safety assessments and home visits with children placed in CONCERN foster homes regularly and engage in all service delivery team meetings concerning children and families.
- Manage inquiries from foster parents and referrals, assisting in the placement of children in suitable foster homes.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all team members, including but not limited to foster parents, county workers, supervisors, school staff, medical providers, therapists, and biological parents/guardians.
- Transport clients and supervise visits with biological/legal family members.
- Complete all necessary documentation for assignments and visits for each client/family by specified deadlines, utilizing various electronic information systems.
- Participate in court hearings and medical/behavioral health appointments, as well as facilitate training for foster families.
- Regularly meet with the social services supervisor and engage in required and recommended staff training.
- Attend community and foster care recruitment events, as well as manage the solicitation, processing, and distribution of donations.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
Work Schedule:
Hours will vary based on client needs and may include evenings and weekends.
Compensation:
$18.00/hr
$7.50/hr (administrative rate)
