Overview:
The Office of the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is in search of a dedicated full-time Legal Administrative Assistant. The CASA Program is committed to recruiting, training, and supporting exceptional volunteer advocates for the welfare of children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Our goal is to ensure that every child needing representation in the juvenile dependency court system has a CASA advocate to support their best interests, secure a permanent home, and foster a hopeful future. This position operates from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, in an office setting. Remote work is not an option.

Key Responsibilities:
The CASA Legal Administrative Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting CASA volunteers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Onboarding new applicants
  • Managing the distribution and filing of reports and case notes
  • Archiving files and maintaining organized records
  • Assisting with the collection, documentation, and tracking of discovery documents
  • Handling incoming calls and inquiries
  • Compiling data into our case management system

Essential Job Duties:
  1. Prepare and type legal documents and correspondence, ensuring compliance with legal standards and deadlines.
  2. Establish and maintain legal files and filing systems, retrieving information as needed.
  3. Manage incoming mail and communications, directing inquiries appropriately.
  4. Input data into the case management system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  5. Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared.
  6. Assist with the collection and tracking of discovery documents.

Minimum Qualifications:
One (1) year of legal administrative experience or completion of an accredited legal secretarial program, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must pass job-related assessments.

Special Requirements:
A valid Washington State Driver's License may be required. Typing proficiency of sixty (60) words per minute is required.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of legal terminology, document formats, and standard office practices is essential. The ability to manage a high volume of work accurately and maintain confidentiality is crucial. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact courteously with various stakeholders are necessary for success in this role.
