POSITION OVERVIEW

The Operating Room Technician plays a crucial role in supporting patient care within surgical environments or designated areas of the healthcare facility.

This professional collaborates with various healthcare team members, including Registered Nurses, anesthesia personnel, surgeons, and other medical staff.

The primary responsibility of the Operating Room Technician is to fulfill the 'scrub' role during surgical interventions, ensuring that all sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment are readily available.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Educational Background:
Completion of high school or equivalent is mandatory.

Graduation from a recognized surgical technology program (civilian or military), an Associate of Arts Degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited institution, or a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.


Certification Requirements:
Valid CPR certification is essential.

Certification as a Surgical Technologist from the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist by completing a CAAHEP-accredited program and passing a national certification examination (CST) OR certification through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or military program certification is highly preferred.
