Position Overview: Mechanical Assembly Technicians at Steffes play a crucial role in the assembly, testing, inspection, and packaging of a diverse range of products. We provide comprehensive blueprints and guidelines to ensure clarity in every task. Our in-house assembly academy is designed to facilitate the learning process for new hires, enabling them to effectively operate various tools and equipment necessary for the job.

Physical Requirements: This position demands the ability to lift, push, and pull substantial weights, making it physically engaging at times. Candidates should be prepared for a hands-on role that utilizes their mechanical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various tools and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Adhere to standard work practices, training guides, and quality management system requirements.
  • Understand and follow build boards and Kanban system protocols.
  • Identify and report any inconsistencies or defects in materials, products, or equipment.
  • Maintain a positive work environment through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Contribute to the company’s strategic, quality, and safety objectives.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills (Windows, email, internet).
  • Strong written and verbal communication, math, reading, and spelling abilities.
  • Alternatively, an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 70 pounds, carry 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Willingness to climb ladders and stairs as needed.
  • Engagement in activities requiring stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
  • Ability to handle, feel, and grip tools and materials.
  • Visual acuity necessary for inspecting completed work.
  • Preparedness for varying internal and external environmental conditions.
