Job Summary



Ryder System is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team in Oregon, Illinois. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electronic issues, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our heavy-duty vehicles.



Responsibilities




  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on heavy-duty vehicles, including oil changes, brake and tire work, and other scheduled tasks.

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic issues, utilizing diagnostic computer systems and other tools as needed.

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of our vehicles, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.

  • Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints and provide solutions.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.

  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve maintenance goals and objectives.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques, participating in ongoing training and development opportunities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, including facility maintenance and other support tasks.


Requirements




  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred.

  • Basic tools required.

  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.

  • Routine preventative maintenance experience, including oil changes, brake and tire work.

  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience.

  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred.

  • This position requires the ability to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee, you must:

  • Be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.

  • Pass a Ryder drug test.

  • Pass a DOT physical.

  • Pass a Ryder road test.

  • Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
