Position Overview

The Youth Education Program Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing K-8 educational initiatives that facilitate academic success among our members. Reporting directly to the Education Director, this role involves planning, organizing, and managing programs that enhance homework completion, tutoring, and academic mentorship for youth.

Key Responsibilities

Education Program Management (75%)

  • Design and implement educational programs, including tutoring and mentorship initiatives.
  • Organize cultural activities and events that promote engagement and learning.
  • Develop outreach strategies to encourage participation in educational programs.
  • Foster a culture of academic achievement, emphasizing the importance of high school completion.
  • Ensure high-quality execution of homework assistance programs, providing necessary support and resources.
  • Identify and enroll youth in need of additional academic support through tutoring and mentorship.

Daily Operations (25%)

  • Monitor and evaluate member participation and progress in educational programs.
  • Build strong relationships with parents to enhance student success.
  • Supervise and mentor Teen Staff and Volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer efforts from corporate and parent groups as needed.
  • Assist the Education Director in maintaining academic records for select members, including various performance indicators.
  • Analyze program data to inform improvements and adjustments.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and fundraising activities as required.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance in line with the organization’s standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong classroom management and discipline skills.
  • Experience working with diverse youth populations.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement organized educational programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities.
  • Current certification in first aid/CPR (to be obtained within 90 days of employment).

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Arabic, Spanish, or a Chinese dialect.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Minimum one year of teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Familiarity with educational programs and assessments.
  • Experience in curriculum development and educational advocacy.
  • Knowledge of current trends in after-school programming and evaluation methods.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Understanding of child and adolescent development theories.
  • Familiarity with Restorative Justice principles.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged durations.
