Position Overview

Role Summary:

The NACTEP Tutor Mentor Coordinator is responsible for establishing, overseeing, and delivering tutoring services for pre-nursing and nursing students at Sinte Gleska University, under the guidance of the IOT NACTEP Project Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and engage tutors and mentors from local healthcare facilities.
  • Facilitate partnerships between pre-nursing and current nursing students with experienced nursing mentors, including the IOT NACTEP Tutor Mentor Coordinator.
  • Identify and participate in training opportunities for tutors and mentors, such as webinars, and communicate relevant training information to the IOT NACTEP Project Director.
  • Uphold the mission of the university and the program, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Develop assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of tutoring and mentoring sessions.
  • Coordinate and manage tutoring schedules in collaboration with the IOT NACTEP Project Director.
  • Conduct intake and orientation sessions for pre-nursing and nursing students.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained for student records.
  • Participate in regular nursing staff meetings, IOT NACTEP staff meetings, and mandatory professional development trainings.
  • Provide weekly updates on student progress to the IOT NACTEP Project Director.
  • Implement online platforms to facilitate virtual tutoring and mentoring services.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable and responsible with strong customer service abilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including spreadsheets, Google Forms, email, and word processing software.
  • Eager to learn and adapt to new tutoring methodologies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid South Dakota practical nursing license.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the LPN field.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

The NACTEP Tutor Mentor Coordinator is required to maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, and all Sinte Gleska University policies regarding student records and personnel files.
