Job Description Summary
This position is tasked with delivering expert accounting guidance pertaining to Transamerica's Investment Reporting & Disclosures. The role will act as a technical authority on investment assets and derivatives, adhering to IFRS, Statutory, US GAAP, and Solvency II standards. This position offers significant responsibility and visibility, providing opportunities to influence and shape strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and implement new accounting and disclosure guidelines across IFRS, Statutory, US GAAP, and Solvency II.
  • Conduct accounting research by reviewing guidelines and applying them to formulate or assess accounting or reporting positions for unique asset or derivative types.
  • Organize and maintain the US Accounting Policy Manual for Investments.
  • Draft and/or revise accounting and reporting policies and position papers for investment assets and derivatives across all accounting frameworks.
  • Collaborate with various departments to resolve business issues, ensuring the company's success.
  • Create or review error/issue papers, including root cause analysis and remediation plans, along with recommended control updates.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, US Corporate Accounting policy, Group Accounting Policy, and internal controls.
  • Assist with quarterly or annual reporting processes.

Specific Areas of Focus:
  • Asset categorization and classification for reporting purposes.
  • Materiality assessments concerning errors and issue papers.
  • Consolidation assessments under IFRS 10 for partially owned investments.
  • Achieving hedge accounting under IFRS, Statutory, and/or US GAAP for new or proposed hedge programs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial areas, particularly investments and insurance products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Customer service-oriented approach, with a readiness to undertake new projects and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating organizational and prioritization skills.

Working Conditions:
A fast-paced, deadline-driven office environment with occasional travel. Remote employees may need to report to a company office at times, but will primarily work remotely.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary for this position typically ranges from $75,000 to $90,000 annually, based on qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below this range, as permitted by applicable law.
