Clark College is seeking applications for a full-time, permanent classified Campus Safety Coordinator to ensure the security and protection of the Boschma Farms campus. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe environment for students and staff. The position will involve a Monday to Friday schedule with potential travel to various Clark College locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Uphold campus policies and adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the campus on foot, bicycle, or in a patrol vehicle to enforce institutional policies.
  • Inspect buildings and grounds for disturbances, fire hazards, property damage, and other anomalies.
  • Safeguard the well-being of students and college personnel along with their belongings.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, including fire alarms and medical incidents.
  • Document incidents using computerized reporting systems.
  • Implement college parking and traffic rules.
  • Assist the college community with services such as building access, parking lot escorts, and general inquiries.
  • Utilize equipment such as radios and patrol vehicles effectively.
  • Maintain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED.
  • Act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and complete all necessary training related to Clery Act compliance.
  • Deliver excellent customer service.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates will be assessed based on their application materials, including supplemental questions and interviews, and must demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a security or law enforcement setting, or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Current auto insurance coverage.
  • No felony convictions.
  • Ability to perform general security duties, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, and effective communication.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Availability to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends across multiple campus locations.
  • Willingness to walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to collaborate as a member of the Safety/Security team.
  • Adaptability to changing business needs and responsibilities.
  • Capability to coordinate with others to share information and resolve issues.
  • Proficiency in engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Initial appointment includes a probationary period, with permanent status granted upon successful completion.
  • This position is represented by the Washington Public Employees Association.
  • A background check, including criminal history and sexual misconduct checks, will be conducted prior to hiring.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $3,999-$5,370/month | Step A-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 46 | Code: 385E
