Insurance Underwriting Support Specialist

Location: Candidates must reside in Illinois and be available for a hybrid work schedule, which includes in-office presence as required.

Position Overview: This role offers the opportunity to engage in a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility to work from home on designated days based on the established in-office schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the underwriting process by preparing documentation for new and renewal policies, ensuring the collection of essential internal and external information.
  • Review and annotate critical information, maintaining clear communication and follow-up with agencies.
  • Manage customer and prospect data entry, policy issuance, endorsements, and correspondence with policyholders.
  • Conduct multi-state quoting and maintain accurate producer files.
  • Generate management and marketing reports, and assist with Premium Audit inquiries and corrections.
  • Handle daily issuance of cancellation, rescission, and reinstatement notifications.

Relationship Management:

Build and nurture relationships both internally and externally to deliver exceptional underwriting services and customer experiences. Collaborate effectively with underwriters and agents to ensure clarity in communication.

File Management:

Ensure completeness of files and assist underwriters in prioritizing accounts. Adapt to changing tasks and procedures as directed by underwriting needs.

Problem Solving:

Identify and address issues as they arise, employing logical reasoning to gather data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Refer complex problems to supervisors or underwriters as necessary.

Collaboration:

Work productively with colleagues, responding positively to feedback and maintaining a professional demeanor. Be open to new ideas and processes, and provide guidance to newer team members when needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications is necessary.
  • Strong mathematical and reading skills are essential.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in telephone and email interactions.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $45,765.75 to $57,000, with actual pay adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors.
