Job Summary

Byline Bank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Credit Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our commercial lending group, you will be responsible for providing analytical and underwriting support for commercial banking, including an independent analysis of creditworthiness of customers and prospects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Credit Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis of credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, property inspections, and environmental reports to complete loan presentations for approval consideration.
  • Financial Statement Analysis: Prepare and analyze spreads of a company's financial statements to determine overall credit strengths and weaknesses of potential commercial credit customers.
  • Collateral Analysis: Perform and complete a collateral analysis of all collateral assets, including accounts receivables, inventory, equipment, and real estate.
  • Credit Classification Analysis: Perform credit classification analysis to include the company's customer base, a detailed credit profile of the company's largest customers, and delinquent accounts.
  • Inventory and Equipment Analysis: Perform inventory and equipment analysis, including inventory in days, examination of stale inventory, spoilage, depletion, and inventory valuations.
  • Real Estate Collateral Analysis: Perform real estate collateral analysis, including examination of appraisal and assessment of special and single-purpose use facilities and alternative uses.
  • Customer Communication: Contact the customer or their representative to obtain additional information or explanation throughout the underwriting process.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and assess various business, industry, and market risks to determine and categorize business trends, growth, cyclical nature, seasonality, business cycle, and stages.
  • Business Sector Analysis: Perform business sector analyses to evaluate the health and viability of a company based on similar businesses and/or competitors.
  • Economic Analysis: Evaluate the overall growth potential of a company's base through the application of various economic theories.
  • Underwriting Support: Order underwriting items, including audit, TLJ, and UCC searches, appraisal, environmental, flood certification, and property inspections from both internal and external sources.
  • Final Funding Reconciliation: Approve final funding reconciliation in Vendor Services.
  • Vendor Order Costs: Record and maintain external vendor order costs in Vendor Services.
  • Training and Development: Serve as a coach and mentor to Credit Analyst trainees.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial credit analysis function within a financial institution.
  • Prior leadership experience, preferred.
  • Formal credit training, preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and effective time and project manager with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong change management, organizational, and planning capabilities.
  • Ability to identify, understand, and define problems, evaluate alternatives, set priorities, manage projects, and implement high-quality solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to directly manage and communicate multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
