The Audit Compliance Specialist will be integral in supporting the internal audit function at Topco. Reporting directly to the Senior Internal Audit Manager, this role will assist in assessing and enhancing the effectiveness of the company’s internal controls, risk management strategies, and governance practices. The Specialist will engage in financial and operational audits across Topco, collaborating with various levels and departments within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in executing audit programs to assess the adequacy of internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, applicable laws, and contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement audit procedures aligned with established audit objectives and programs.
- Create organized and clear workpapers to support testing, observations, and recommendations.
- Document processes to aid in identifying risks and controls, including reviewing policies and procedures, participating in transaction walkthroughs, and completing risk and control matrices.
- Draft narratives and design flowcharts based on discussions with process owners.
- Compile consolidated audit findings and recommendations for management in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborate with external auditors to complete year-end testing.
- Work with internal process owners to gather necessary supporting documentation.
- Stay informed about regulatory changes, industry trends, and emerging risks to enhance audit activities; contribute to the improvement of the internal audit function’s methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Basic understanding of internal audit processes, including risk and control identification and completion of testing worksheets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
- Interest in learning or experience in developing and executing data analytics approaches for relevant audits is advantageous.
- 2-3 years of experience in an internal audit role, focusing on operational and compliance audits.
- Experience with year-end audit testing and executing an annual audit plan is highly preferred.
