Role Summary: Harvest Home is seeking a dynamic, dependable, and enthusiastic Residential Program Substitute to foster a secure and nurturing communal living atmosphere for our residents. The substitute will be responsible for providing on-site supervision and assistance with daily activities during the absence of the Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) or Overnight Assistant at either of our facilities.

Work Schedule:

RLC shifts are available from Monday to Sunday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM.

Overnight Assistant shifts are available from Monday to Sunday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (sleeping shift).

Substitutes may be called upon to cover shifts as necessary due to illness, bereavement, vacation, etc., across both locations.

Note: Shifts may be scheduled in advance or requested on short notice. Availability for evening or overnight work is essential.

Key Responsibilities of the Substitute RLC:

  • Guide residents through planned activities.
  • Ensure completion of daily chores by residents.
  • Assist women with infants and household tasks as needed.
  • Support residents in adhering to Harvest Home policies.
  • Respond to emergencies as they arise.
  • Facilitate communal dinners, encouraging participation and connection among residents.
  • Assist clients in developing life skills (chores, cooking, punctuality, etc.).
  • Maintain safety and security protocols at the end of shifts.
  • Ensure residents are secured in the home by curfew and lock-up procedures.
  • Support clients during hospital visits related to labor or post-birth.
  • Document activities at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Respond to emergencies effectively.

Key Responsibilities of the Substitute Overnight Assistant:

  • Uphold safety standards, regulations, and policies.
  • Engage in crisis prevention and intervention to de-escalate potential harm.
  • Provide necessary support to clients during the overnight shift.
  • Address emergencies that may occur overnight, including maintenance issues, safety concerns, and health-related incidents.
  • Document activities at the beginning and end of shifts.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to issues related to homelessness, women's health, pregnancy, parenting, trauma, and mental health.
  • Effective communication skills with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Familiarity with agency best practices, including harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong self-accountability and high expectations for personal and team performance.
  • Able to build respectful relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exemplary emotional and relational intelligence.
  • Strong critical thinking, active listening, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience or training in crisis intervention and de-escalation preferred.
  • Smartphone required for communication and documentation.
