Job Summary

The Medical Assistant of Marshall Medical Center works collaboratively with healthcare providers and staff to deliver high-quality patient care in a timely, respectful, and compassionate manner. This role ensures the continuity of patient care, resulting in exceptional patient satisfaction. The Medical Assistant prepares patients for examinations and assists healthcare providers as needed, completes medication refills, lab result follow-ups, referrals to specialists, patient callbacks, orders medical supplies, and cleans/sterilizes medical equipment and exam rooms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
  • Prepare patients for examinations and maintain a clean and organized exam environment
  • Complete medication refills, lab result follow-ups, and referrals to specialists
  • Process patient callbacks and orders medical supplies
  • Clean and sterilize medical equipment and exam rooms
  • Float to other clinics as needed to support the overall goals and achievements of Marshall Medical Center

Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or previous Medical Assistant experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Medical Assistant certification from the California Certified Medical Assistant Board (CCMA) or the National American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) for Medical Assistant 2
  • Previous experience with injections, EKGs, medication administration, and/or taking vital signs
  • Basic computer/data entry and electronic medical record (EMR) experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and patient/family health education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accurate and clear clinical documentation in Electronic Medical Record
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to reprioritize work demands as needed
  • Pleasant and friendly demeanor and ability to maintain a positive and team-oriented attitude
