Position Summary: The Morning Kitchen Assistant plays a vital role in the kitchen's efficiency, tasked with ingredient preparation and maintaining an organized workspace. Collaborating closely with the culinary team, this position ensures that the kitchen is stocked and ready for prompt service.Key Responsibilities:
  • Thoroughly wash, peel, and chop a variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs following established protocols.
  • Prepare and portion different types of meat, poultry, and seafood, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Accurately measure and assemble ingredients for various dishes, maintaining consistency in preparation.
  • Follow standardized recipes to ensure uniformity in flavor and quality.
  • Communicate effectively with chefs and line cooks to clarify specific preparation needs for menu items.
  • Manage inventory levels of both perishable and non-perishable items, rotating stock to minimize waste.
  • Label all items properly to maintain freshness and reduce spoilage.
  • Alert culinary management of low inventory situations.
  • Safely and efficiently operate kitchen equipment, including knives and food processors.
  • Regularly clean and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting any issues as necessary.
  • Assist in keeping the kitchen workspace organized and clean.
  • Support kitchen staff with food preparation and service tasks.
  • Adhere to food handling and safety protocols to prevent contamination.
  • Monitor food temperatures during preparation and storage.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen personnel to ensure a seamless food preparation process.
  • Effectively communicate with the kitchen team regarding ingredient availability and freshness.
  • Adapt to menu changes and kitchen procedures as directed by the culinary leadership.
  • Be prepared to assist in various kitchen areas as needed.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Availability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Prior experience in a similar kitchen role is preferred.
  • Culinary training or education is advantageous.
  • Experience in pastry or baking is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various food preparation techniques and kitchen tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in food preparation.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.
