Position Summary: The Morning Kitchen Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the kitchen operates seamlessly. This position is responsible for ingredient preparation and maintaining an organized kitchen environment. Collaborating closely with the culinary team, the Morning Kitchen Assistant ensures that the kitchen is well-stocked and ready for prompt service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly wash, peel, and chop a variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs according to set standards.
  • Prepare and portion proteins, including meat, poultry, and seafood, while adhering to safety and quality protocols.
  • Accurately measure and assemble ingredients for diverse dishes, ensuring precise quantities.
  • Follow established recipes and procedures to maintain consistent quality and flavor in all prepared items.
  • Communicate effectively with chefs and line cooks to clarify specific preparation needs for menu items.
  • Monitor inventory levels of both perishable and non-perishable goods.
  • Rotate stock and label items properly to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Alert the culinary management team when inventory is low.
  • Safely and efficiently utilize kitchen tools and equipment, including knives and food processors.
  • Regularly clean and maintain kitchen equipment, promptly reporting any issues.
  • Assist in keeping the kitchen workspace organized and clean.
  • Support kitchen staff with food preparation and service tasks.
  • Adhere to food handling and safety guidelines to prevent contamination and uphold hygiene standards.
  • Monitor and document food temperatures during preparation and storage.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen personnel to ensure a smooth workflow in food preparation.
  • Effectively communicate with the kitchen team regarding ingredient availability and any issues affecting preparation.
  • Adapt to changes in menu items, production schedules, or kitchen procedures as directed.
  • Be ready to assist in various kitchen areas as needed.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Availability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Prior experience in a similar kitchen role is preferred.
  • Culinary education or relevant training is advantageous.
  • Experience in pastry or baking is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in food preparation.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and health regulations.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
