Job Overview

The Lead Accounting Specialist will execute daily accounting tasks to ensure precise and timely financial reporting. This role involves gathering, analyzing, and monitoring all financial data (including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Balances) and communicating findings to upper management and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to engage with various team members across different levels in a dynamic environment, showcasing flexibility, resourcefulness, and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality.

This position is responsible for providing financial analysis and support to the ownership, as well as performing a variety of accounting duties to guarantee accurate and prompt financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Streamlining processes, including Accounts Payable automation and reporting for enhanced workflow efficiency.
  • Reviewing monthly interest statements, coding and recording accruals as necessary, and ensuring timely payments on all statements.
  • Posting general and adjusting journal entries as required.
  • Collaborating with management to prepare tax returns and audit documentation.
  • Maintaining and generating reports, as well as engaging in special projects as assigned.
  • Coordinating with project teams to ensure timely receipt of payments.
  • Raising awareness of financial implications that can be mitigated or reversed.
  • Processing payables with accurate application of sales and use tax regulations relevant to the project.
  • Assisting with ad hoc and specialized reporting as requested by ownership.
  • Performing additional administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Familiarity with construction job costing.
  • Strong understanding of accounting terminology and functions, including the preparation and comprehension of journal entries.
  • Exceptional skills in Excel are mandatory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to follow directions, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced work environment with repetitive tasks.
  • Strong work ethic and integrity in all professional interactions.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as necessary.
