The Center for Humanistic Change (CHC) is dedicated to empowering individuals, particularly youth, by equipping them with essential knowledge and tools to make informed and positive life choices through engaging prevention education and evidence-based initiatives.

Our core services include drug and alcohol prevention programs. We are currently seeking part-time Prevention Program Specialists.

Availability during daytime hours is essential. Part-time specialists/facilitators may work up to four days per week, with a maximum of 29 hours weekly.

As a Prevention Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating prevention programs and training sessions in educational institutions for students of various age groups.
  • Enhancing community awareness and disseminating information at events and health fairs within the region.

Daytime availability is a must, and flexibility to assist with occasional weekend and evening programs is advantageous. Familiarity with educational materials is beneficial, although training will be provided. Opportunities for work will be available throughout both the summer and academic year.


Ideal candidates should possess the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, manage deadlines for documentation and electronic data entry, and establish rapport with both youth and adults.

Key qualifications include:

  • Excellent judgment and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Success in this role requires the ability to juggle deadlines, think creatively, adapt to new situations, stay informed about emerging trends in prevention and technology, and a willingness to learn new skills.

Selected candidates will be invited to conduct a brief mock presentation as part of the interview process.


All applicants must have reliable transportation and the capability to perform light lifting to transport materials as necessary.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree in education, psychology, counseling, public health, social work, or a closely related field, along with relevant work experience or equivalent training. A Bachelor's Degree with related experience may substitute for a Master's Degree. Bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.


CHC staff are required to obtain and maintain all necessary state and local training certifications and clearances, including background checks and mandated training.

Clearances and criminal record checks must comply with legal requirements for working in educational settings and with children.
