Evening Program Coordinator - Prevention Educator
The Center for Humanistic Change (CHC) is dedicated to empowering individuals, particularly youth, by equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to make informed and positive life choices through engaging prevention education and evidence-based initiatives. Our core focus remains on drug and alcohol prevention.
CHC is currently in search of part-time evening Program Coordinators to implement a specialized, evidence-driven curriculum aimed at family participants in the local community.
Ideal candidates should possess (1) a degree or some post-secondary education, (2) a passion for working with youth and families, and (3) a comfort level in discussing cultural issues while fostering an inclusive environment. Experience in group presentations or educational settings is advantageous.
Flexibility and evening availability are essential, as the program runs for seven consecutive weeks, meeting once a week from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Comprehensive training will be provided. We are looking for facilitators for two distinct programs:
Program 1: Strong African American Families (SAAF) - We encourage applications from individuals of color for both facilitation and childcare roles.
Program 2: Familias Fuertes (Strong Families) - Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are particularly encouraged to apply for this program.
Facilitators will be responsible for delivering the curriculum and collaborating with the program coordinator to prepare for each session. The objectives of these initiatives include (1) reducing alcohol and drug use among youth, (2) enhancing resistance to peer pressure, (3) minimizing alcohol-related issues and behavioral problems, (4) avoiding risky situations and addressing anxiety/depression, (5) fostering positive parent-child relationships, (6) promoting youth protective factors such as problem-solving and self-regulation, and (7) connecting participants with their cultural heritage to inspire achievement.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in engaging and retaining participants through diverse educational strategies.
- Familiarity with interactive learning models and managing group dynamics is preferred.
- Commitment to serving as a positive role model for participants, particularly in relation to program themes.
- Respect for individual rights and diverse learning styles, backgrounds, and values.
- Exemplary professionalism in all aspects of program delivery.
Application Requirements:
Interested candidates should submit a resume and references. Selected applicants must meet all state and local training requirements and clearances, including background checks and mandated training. Fees for clearances will be reimbursed upon completion of the initial program. Compliance with legal standards for working with children is mandatory.
CHC values diversity in all forms, including age, race, ethnicity, education, physical abilities, gender identity, sexual orientation, and religion.
Facilitators must have reliable transportation for program-related activities. If using personal vehicles, candidates must maintain the minimum required automobile insurance.
CHC is an equal opportunity employer. Employment decisions are based on merit and business needs, without regard to race, color, citizenship status, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, sex, religious creed, ancestry, disability, marital status, veteran status, political affiliation, or any other legally protected factor.
