Job Summary

The Center for Humanistic Change is seeking a skilled Prevention Program Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our prevention education team, you will be responsible for delivering interactive prevention programs and trainings to students of all ages in schools, as well as providing community awareness and information dissemination at events and health fairs in the Lehigh Valley.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate prevention programs and trainings in schools, adapting to the needs of diverse student populations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, schools, and local organizations to promote prevention education and awareness
  • Design and deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and training sessions on prevention topics, including substance abuse and mental health
  • Collaborate with our team to develop and implement prevention programs, ensuring alignment with best practices and evidence-based research
  • Provide support and resources to schools and community organizations to enhance their prevention efforts
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, public health, social work, or a closely related human services field
  • Master's degree preferred, with relevant work experience or equivalent training
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn new software and technologies
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to schools and community locations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in prevention education, substance abuse prevention, or a related field
  • Knowledge of evidence-based prevention programs and curricula
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Experience with MS Teams and other collaboration tools
Clearances and Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain all state and local training requirements and clearances, including PA Child Abuse history clearance, PA State Police background clearance, FBI background fingerprinting check, mandated child abuse reporter training, and abuse prevention training.

Clearances and criminal record checks must be in compliance and in accordance with the laws reflecting the ability to work in schools and with children.
