This position plays a crucial role in the development and operational support of New Glenn, a versatile heavy-lift launch vehicle designed for regular missions to orbit and beyond. With a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is paving the way for future space endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate precise calculations and analytical models for structural systems utilizing steel and concrete.
  • Devise innovative strategies for enhancing design processes.
  • Compile comprehensive reports detailing the design methodology, material specifications, analysis outcomes, and other relevant information.
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance throughout the design and construction phases of various projects.
  • Evaluate calculations conducted by peers to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5-10 years of pertinent experience in structural engineering.
  • Familiarity with AISC 360, ADM, ACI 318, ASCE 7, and AWS D1.1.
  • Experience with analysis software such as STAAD or Ansys Mechanical is preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices in finite element analysis, nonlinear analysis, and the ability to perform hand calculations to verify computational results.
  • Proven experience in field assessments, structural analysis, and the design of steel and concrete structures.
  • Strong grasp of current building codes and standards.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing detailed reports and conveying complex information effectively.
  • Adept at collaborating within multidisciplinary teams while managing multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly desirable.
  • An advanced degree in engineering.
