Role Overview:

As a key member of our engineering team, you will engage in structural assessments for various spaceflight systems. Your role will encompass the design and release of detailed drawings for diverse space components. You will lead system and component development, conduct trade studies focused on structural integrity, and pinpoint opportunities for enhancing safety measures. Additionally, mentoring junior technicians will be a vital aspect of your responsibilities, along with managing and reporting on project timelines and technical progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct structural analysis and design for spaceflight systems.
  • Release manufacturing drawings for various components.
  • Guide the development of systems and parts, ensuring structural integrity.
  • Identify and implement safety improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff.
  • Maintain and report on project schedules and technical status.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in structural design and the release of manufacturing drawings for space-related components. Familiarity with Windchill is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred).
  • Experience with FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred) and validation of structural models.
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing methods, material selection, and testing.
  • Experience analyzing components in high-vibration environments.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in machining, additive manufacturing, welding, and casting, and their impact on structural integrity.
  • Familiarity with high-strength aluminum alloys, nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, and corrosion-resistant steels.
  • Experience with cryogenic and elevated temperature systems and relevant analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of fatigue analysis and linear-elastic fracture mechanics.
  • Proficiency in analysis software such as Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Optistruct.
