Position Summary:

We are seeking a Lead Senior Structural Design Engineer to spearhead our New Glenn Second Stage Tanks initiatives. This role is pivotal in advancing our engineering capabilities in the realm of space technology. You will lead a dedicated team of engineers across various disciplines, focusing on enhancing the existing New Glenn Stage 2 design while integrating innovative features.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the structural design and configuration of propellant tanks and internal structures.
  • Conduct detailed design, analysis, and testing of structures subjected to cryogenic conditions.
  • Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and interface control documents adhering to both internal and external specifications.
  • Collaborate across different business units to ensure project objectives are met, acting as a liaison between internal and external partners.
  • Prepare project summaries and presentations for executive review and internal discussions.
  • Monitor and report on project performance metrics related to schedule, resources, and technical specifications.
  • Engage in subsystem testing, data analysis, and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Offer on-site manufacturing support, including travel as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.
  • Proven leadership experience in aerospace development, encompassing the full lifecycle of aerospace systems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Adept at navigating a fast-paced environment and willing to travel for program needs.
  • Experience in launch vehicles or aircraft, particularly in structural design and analysis.
  • Proficient in mechanical design software such as Creo and CATIA V5.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis techniques and material selection processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong consensus-building skills among diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with rapid hardware development techniques.
  • Familiarity with welding and forming processes.
  • Expertise in industry-standard analysis software.
  • Understanding of systems engineering practices and quality control processes.
