Strategic Development Coordinator

**This is a Part Time AmeriCorps position. While most work will be conducted remotely, occasional staff retreats and/or meetings will necessitate in-person attendance. We welcome applicants from various service locations.**

Role Summary

The Strategic Development Coordinator plays a pivotal role in executing special initiatives aimed at enhancing DREAM's ability to engage with new youth. This role entails the design and execution of effective business systems that bolster organizational efficiency, improve internal communication, and strengthen connections among all stakeholders.

Organizational Mission

The DREAM Program is dedicated to dismantling systemic oppression impacting our youth and families. This commitment necessitates that members approach this role with a mindset of learning and unlearning, actively contributing to DREAM's mission of bridging the Opportunity Gap while addressing other systemic inequities. We seek individuals who will enrich The DREAM Program's diverse community, as varied perspectives, identities, and skills are essential for our success. DREAM is looking for members who are prepared to cultivate an inclusive atmosphere and deliver culturally relevant programming to the youth we serve. It is crucial for incoming members and staff to recognize that we serve marginalized communities, ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusivity are integral to every facet of our work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement opportunities for enhancing existing workflows and processes.
  • Research, recommend, and deploy new software solutions to improve operational and programmatic efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guarantee the smooth integration of new systems.
  • Monitor and assess current program processes to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Evaluate and research the development and application of best practices for internal systems to optimize resource utilization.
  • Create tools, templates, and guidelines to promote transparent and effective operational discussions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth.
  • Commitment to serving as a positive role model for youth.
  • A passion for advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
  • Experience in diverse and inclusive environments, with a demonstrated understanding of social equity and justice issues.
  • Proven ability to engage with diverse communities respectfully and equitably.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Access to necessary resources for telework (e.g., reliable internet connection).
  • Ability to meet in person with your team as required.
  • Access to a reliable phone.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed behavior management and restorative practices.
  • Previous leadership experience among peers.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to the full service term as outlined in your offer.
  • Alignment with the mission of AmeriCorps and DREAM.
  • Willingness to enhance existing skills and develop new competencies.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
  • Minimum age of 17 at the start of service or participation in a program for out-of-school youth aged 16.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, or agreement to obtain one prior to using the education award.
  • Agreement to undergo required criminal history checks.

Work Environment: This position operates in various settings, including professional office environments and outdoor spaces with active youth. Regular use of computers and standard office equipment is expected.

Physical Demands: This role requires comfort in outdoor settings and may involve physical activities such as standing, walking, and lifting items over 50 pounds.

Travel: Local travel is expected, with occasional interregional travel for retreats and special events.
