Position Overview: Tetra Tech International Development is seeking a qualified Research Analyst to join our team in support of the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) initiative. This role is fully remote and offers a full-time commitment.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of research strategies and methodologies under the guidance of the Research Advisor.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and contribute to the design of assessments.
  • Engage in data collection, processing, and analysis, ensuring high standards of accuracy and reliability.
  • Interpret and synthesize third-party analyses to inform project deliverables.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation related to various research assignments.
  • Collaborate with the Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor to ensure research practices are inclusive and sensitive to gender considerations.
  • Work alongside the Data Analytics and Technology (DAT) team to perform secondary data analyses, including geospatial mapping.
  • Train local partners in data collection methodologies to ensure adherence to established protocols.
  • Support the oversight of consultants and enumerator teams as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards in research, including data security and management protocols.
  • Monitor secondary data sources related to food security in relevant regions.
  • Organize and maintain project documentation and datasets for effective knowledge management.
  • Provide additional technical and research management support as required.

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in international development, sociology, agriculture, economics, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of the factors contributing to food and nutrition insecurity, along with familiarity with measurement methodologies.
  • Proven experience in handling both primary and secondary data related to food security and livelihoods.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement qualitative and mixed-methods research.
  • Experience in data collection techniques such as focus groups and interviews.
  • Knowledge of quantitative research methods and applied statistics is desirable.
  • Experience in food security research or program implementation in developing contexts is essential.
  • Excellent technical writing capabilities and strong communication skills in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project needs.
  • Current authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory at the time of application.
