Position Overview

As an Electrical Machine Research Specialist at GE Aerospace, you will engage in the innovative design and development of electrical machines within a dynamic team setting. Your contributions will be pivotal in advancing machine system concepts and their practical applications in various sectors, including aviation engine systems, energy generation, and electric as well as hybrid vehicle technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to ascertain essential system specifications.
  • Analyze and define the requirements for electrical machines (including generators, motors, and power systems) based on system and client needs.
  • Employ simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and PLECS to validate and optimize control algorithms for a diverse range of electric machines, ensuring compliance with performance criteria.
  • Integrate outputs from finite element analysis and other design software to establish and apply machine parameters within system models.
  • Partner closely with the electrical machine design team to ensure that the physical machines fulfill all specified requirements.
  • Formulate and execute testing protocols for electrical machine systems, documenting performance metrics comprehensively.
  • Present findings and insights effectively through reports, presentations, and publications to various stakeholders, including Global Research, GE divisions, governmental bodies, and professional organizations.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a focus on control systems applied to electric machines.
  • Profound understanding of electrical machines, encompassing electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical technology dimensions.
  • Experience with a broad spectrum of machine configurations.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as finite element analysis, MATLAB (Simulink), and PLECS.
  • US Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Willingness to work from an office location.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
