Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our team at GE Aviation. As a Research Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced aerodynamics and CFD techniques to improve the performance of our aircraft engines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute research projects to improve aerodynamic and thermal performance of aircraft engines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new aircraft engine technologies
  • Develop and maintain in-house tools and workflows for delivering CAD and meshes according to established design standards
  • Participate in the development of high-fidelity computational analyses techniques
  • Interface with experimentalists to ensure high-quality data acquisition
  • Collaborate with the GE Aviation engineering community to communicate and validate state-of-the-art modeling techniques
Requirements
  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Experience and knowledge of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and CFD
  • Experience in geometry modification, meshing, and using engineering simulation/analysis tools
  • Ability to investigate, model, and provide critical insight into complex physical flow phenomena
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Good communication skills and ability to interface with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence
Desired Characteristics
  • At least 3 years of industrial or research experience in turbomachinery design and analysis
  • Outstanding programming skills, including expertise with FORTRAN, C++, and Python
  • Passion for science and technology and clear evidence of innovation and creativity
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
