We are seeking an experienced Principal Nuclear Engineer to join our Materials Manufacturing team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading research and development efforts in nuclear fuel and cladding materials.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of engineers and scientists in the research and development of nuclear fuel and cladding materials.
- Design and implement test programs to evaluate the performance of nuclear materials.
- Develop and deploy laboratory equipment, including nuclear, chemical, mechanical, structural, and electrical components and systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including reports and presentations.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or Master's degree in engineering or a related field with relevant experience.
- 9 years of relevant experience, or 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
- Strong knowledge of materials science, control systems, and chemical engineering.
- Experience with data analytics, statistical design of experiments, and machine learning.
- Proficiency in software programming languages, including LabVIEW and Python.
- Experience in materials science, control systems, and chemical engineering.
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics and thermal transfer.
- Ability to clearly and concisely articulate technical work and detail to broad audiences.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders.
