Job Overview
As a Senior Research Engineer specializing in Computer Vision, you will collaborate with GE Vernova Research, various GE Vernova divisions, and external partners to outline, develop, and implement strategic research and development initiatives centered on Computer Vision and Autonomous Systems.

GE Vernova's Advanced Research division serves as the core innovation hub for GE's energy portfolio, now unified under the GE Vernova brand. Our research team comprises over 250 experts from diverse scientific and engineering fields, collectively spearheading significant research projects aimed at decarbonizing energy production, accelerating renewable energy adoption, and fostering electrification to create a modern grid capable of supporting a zero-carbon energy future.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties
  • Innovate and develop cutting-edge technology concepts with a strategic focus on computer vision algorithms, system design, and integration.
  • Lead and engage in design, architecture, and development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external thought leaders across the computer vision landscape to promote new ideas and applications.
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience, Master's degree with 5 years of experience, or PhD with 2 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong background in computer vision software development.
  • Proven track record of successful execution in relevant projects.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required; sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this position.
  • Extensive experience in systems architecture, design, and integration.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C/C++/Python.
  • Strong background in software engineering and architecture.
  • Experience in developing camera and sensor drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate software into functional systems.
  • Familiarity with robotic perception, sensor fusion, and computer vision technologies.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent decisions in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be willing to undergo a drug test and background check as part of the hiring process.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Willingness to work from an office location is required.

The salary range for this role is competitive and based on experience, education, and location. This position is also eligible for performance-based bonuses.
