The Nurse Practitioner Inpatient Lead plays a pivotal role in delivering advanced healthcare services to diverse populations. This position involves overseeing the activities of inpatient nurse practitioners, ensuring effective training and orientation, and guaranteeing the safe delivery of advanced nursing care in accordance with established protocols. The role includes comprehensive assessments of patient health, data analysis for medical and nursing needs, and the development of tailored treatment strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Direct the Advanced Practice Provider group within the department.
- Assist in recruitment, competency assessments, training, and scheduling of staff.
Clinical Assessment:
- Evaluate complex and critically ill patients for urgent conditions.
- Utilize relevant data to identify physiological instabilities and formulate care plans.
Intervention:
- Implement therapeutic interventions to manage acute health issues.
- Assess the risks and benefits of various therapeutic approaches.
Care Management:
- Oversee and adjust care plans based on patient responses.
- Facilitate patient transitions across healthcare settings, ensuring optimal outcomes.
Education and Mentorship:
- Serve as a resource for patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Mentor and precept nursing staff and advanced practice providers to foster professional growth.
Commitment to Safety:
- Advocate for patient safety and quality care practices.
- Report any safety concerns and promote a culture of accountability.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Preferred: Doctor of Nursing Practice
Experience:
- Required: 2 years of specialized Nurse Practitioner experience
- Preferred: 4 years of clinical experience in nursing and leadership roles
Licenses/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License (Louisiana)
- Registered Nursing License (Louisiana)
- Nurse Practitioner Certification (various specialties)
