This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead the Advanced Practice Provider team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Children's Hospital New Orleans. As a System Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and input into the issues surrounding Advanced Practice Providers within the LCMC Health NICUs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and input into the issues surrounding Advanced Practice Providers within the LCMC Health NICUs.
- Function as liaison between NICU APPs, LCMC NICU nursing and administrative leadership, and the LCMC Medical Group.
- Maintain clinical privileging and provide care in an advanced practice nursing role, under approved protocols in accordance with the NNP Scope of Practice.
- Provide primary management in the NICU for infants, including assessment and management of patients, education, and research at each LCMC facility NICU.
- Attend and manage all high-risk deliveries under the direction of neonatology medical staff when applicable.
- 3 to 5 years of Advanced Nursing experience.
- Completion of Nurse Practitioner Program and Master's Degree in Nursing - Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (MSN-NNP).
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure.
- Registered Nursing License.
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification.
- Knowledge of APRN procedures specific to the role: chest tube placement, endotracheal intubation, lumbar puncture, needle thoracotomy, percutaneous central line placement, peripheral artery puncture and cannulation, removal of thoracotomy tube, suprapubic bladder aspiration, umbilical artery catheterization, umbilical vein catheterization, and ventricular catheter reservoir aspiration.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The ability to multitask and prioritize tasks is essential. The position also requires working with a diverse population of patients, families, and healthcare providers.
