Position Overview: The HVAC Operations Manager will oversee the overall functioning and growth of the HVAC Services department. This role will collaborate closely with the Director of Maintenance Services.

Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in both commercial and residential HVAC, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Possession of Refrigeration, Hot Water, Gas, and Warm Air Master licenses.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of HVAC and building mechanical systems.
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and national HVAC codes.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Exceptional customer service capabilities.
  • A valid driver's license.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the HVAC services department by:
    • Supervising daily operations, scheduling, and coordinating HVAC service technicians while collaborating with the dispatch team to ensure timely service delivery.
    • Planning, staffing, and overseeing departmental activities, including personnel administration and performance evaluations.
    • Assessing workloads and future staffing needs, assisting in recruitment processes such as interviewing and evaluating candidates.
    • Recommending personnel actions, including promotions and disciplinary measures, while managing the performance evaluation process.
    • Partnering with Human Resources to ensure safety training and regulatory compliance.
    • Being responsive to both internal and external clients.
    • Developing and maintaining HVAC preventative maintenance programs for internal client accounts.
    • Identifying and cultivating project opportunities, preparing project scopes and proposals.
    • Managing HVAC projects efficiently and within budget.
    • Providing technical support and problem-solving assistance to internal customers.
    • Supporting onsite maintenance personnel with training and preventative maintenance management.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and financially responsible work environment by:
    • Implementing OSHA-compliant work practices.
    • Providing training and advancement opportunities.
    • Offering ongoing technical support and supervision.
  • Advance energy management initiatives by:
    • Developing strategies and assisting clients with the installation and use of energy management systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours each workday.
  • Capability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
  • Regularly stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and balance.
  • Perform ladder work, including carrying ladders and scaffolding.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and contact with sharp or extreme temperature equipment.
  • Adhere to safety procedures to prevent work-related injuries.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a keyboard.
