Position Overview: The HVAC Service Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the operation and growth of the GCM HVAC Services department. This position will report directly to the Director of Maintenance Services.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in both commercial and residential HVAC, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Possession of Refrigeration, Hot Water, Gas, and Warm Air master licenses.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of HVAC and building mechanical systems.
  • In-depth understanding of HVAC local, state, and national codes.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • A valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the GCM HVAC services department, including:
    • Daily supervision, scheduling, and coordination of HVAC service technicians, collaborating closely with the dispatch department to ensure timely service fulfillment.
    • Planning, staffing, and overseeing departmental activities, including personnel administration and performance evaluations.
    • Assessing workloads and future staffing needs, assisting with recruitment efforts such as interviewing and evaluating candidates.
    • Recommending personnel actions, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures, while managing the performance evaluation process and providing guidance to technicians.
    • Collaborating with Human Resources on safety training and regulatory compliance.
    • Recognizing the importance of responsiveness to both internal and external clients.
    • Developing and maintaining HVAC preventative maintenance programs for internal client accounts.
    • Identifying project opportunities, developing project scopes, and preparing proposals.
    • Managing HVAC projects in a timely and financially responsible manner.
    • Providing technical support and problem-solving assistance to internal customers.
    • Supporting onsite maintenance personnel with training and preventative maintenance management.
  • Ensure a healthy, safe, and financially responsible work environment for the GCM HVAC services department, including:
    • Compliance with OSHA standards and practices.
    • Providing training, educational, and advancement opportunities.
    • Offering ongoing technical support and supervision.
  • Advance energy management initiatives for FirstService Residential Minnesota/GCM by:
    • Developing company strategies and assisting clients with the installation and utilization of energy management systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours each workday.
  • Capability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and balance regularly.
  • Willingness to perform ladder and step work, including carrying ladders and scaffolding.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Contact with sharp, hot, and/or very cold equipment and supplies.
  • Adherence to safety procedures to prevent work-related injuries.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a keyboard.
