About the Role

Gittleman Construction & Maintenance Corporation, a leading provider of expert maintenance and repairs, is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Manager to oversee the operation and development of its HVAC Services department. As a key member of the team, you will report to the Director of Maintenance Services and be responsible for ensuring the health and efficiency of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Management
    • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of HVAC service technicians, working closely with the dispatch department to ensure timely fulfillment of service requests and projects.
    • Plan, staff, and supervise division activities, including personnel administration, performance reviews, and defining functions and responsibilities.
    • Evaluate workloads and future staffing requirements, and assist with recruitment activities such as interviewing and recommending potential hires.
    • Recommend personnel actions, promotions, transfers, terminations, or disciplinary measures, and manage the Performance Evaluation process of assigned division.
  • Customer Service and Project Management
    • Develop and maintain HVAC preventative maintenance programs for internal client accounts.
    • Cultivate internal and external customer project opportunities, develop project scope of work, and prepare proposals.
    • Manage HVAC projects in a timely and financially accountable way.
    • Assist internal customers with mechanical problem solving, technical support, reviewing and summarizing projects, estimating projects, and maintenance contracts.
  • Work Environment and Safety
    • Create and maintain a healthy, safe, and financially responsible work environment for the GCM HVAC services department and its employees.
    • Ensure OSHA compliant work practices and continued compliance.
    • Provide ongoing technical support, supervision, and direction.
  • Energy Management
    • Develop and advance FirstService Residential Minnesota/GCM energy management initiatives.
    • Develop company strategy and assist clients with installation and use of energy management systems.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in commercial and residential HVAC, with 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Refrigeration, Hot Water, Gas, and Warm Air masters license.
  • High degree of technical knowledge related to HVAC and building mechanical systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of HVAC local, state, and national codes.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 working hours each workday.
  • Ability to adjust, lift, push, and pull heavy objects a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and balance regularly.
  • Ability to do ladder/step work, including carrying ladders, scaffolding, and walking up/down stairs.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Contact with sharp, hot, and/or very cold supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain safety procedures at all times to prevent work injuries.
  • Sit at desk and use keyboard.
