Position Overview:

The HVAC Operations Manager will oversee the overall functioning and growth of the HVAC Services department. This role will report directly to the Director of Maintenance Services.


Key Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in both commercial and residential HVAC, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Possession of Refrigeration, Hot Water, Gas, and Warm Air master licenses.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of HVAC and building mechanical systems.
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and national HVAC codes.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop the HVAC services department.
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate HVAC service technicians, collaborating closely with the dispatch department to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Plan, staff, and oversee departmental activities, including personnel administration and performance evaluations.
  • Evaluate workloads and future staffing needs.
  • Assist in recruitment processes, including interviewing and recommending potential hires.
  • Recommend personnel actions, including promotions and disciplinary measures.
  • Lead the performance evaluation process and provide guidance and coaching to technicians.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on safety training and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain HVAC preventative maintenance programs for internal clients.
  • Identify and cultivate project opportunities, develop project scopes, and prepare proposals.
  • Manage HVAC projects efficiently and within budget.
  • Support internal customers with technical problem-solving and project estimation.
  • Provide training and support to onsite maintenance personnel.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours each workday.
  • Capability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
  • Regularly standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and balancing.
  • Ability to perform ladder work, including carrying ladders and scaffolding.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and extreme temperatures.
