Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled UAV Systems Specialist III to join our team at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. This position will support engineering and manufacturing by serving as a main technical contributor on advanced technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing Process Development: Develop and control manufacturing process work instructions, technique job aids, and evaluate and resolve issues related to manufacturing, design, quality, safety, materials, and engineering.
  • Technical Problem-Solving: Monitor program development progress, analyze, investigate, and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
  • Manufacturability Enhancement: Work directly with engineers to enhance manufacturability, assembly, and integration of components and subassemblies starting at initial model/drawing creation and continuing throughout the manufacturing phase.
  • Technical Knowledge Application: Apply technical knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve engineering and manufacturing problems.
  • Shop Requirements Definition: Define shop requirements and assist with development of tooling, fixtures, and processes to support manufacturing activities.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work directly with machinists, laminators, programmers, and other technical staff to solve manufacturing issues and meet delivery goals.
  • Problem-Solving and Innovation: Devise new approaches to resolve unusual or complex manufacturing, assembly, and repair problems.
  • Technical Contribution: Act as a significant technical contributor and make recommendations on application of materials and processes for LO features and test bodies.
  • Conflict Resolution: Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements of aerospace structures.
  • Problem Investigation and Resolution: Investigate and resolve problem areas and collaborate with engineering, and manufacturing personnel to develop, document, and implement technical solutions.
  • Program Planning and Support: Support periodic program engineering/manufacturing planning meetings.
  • Defect Analysis and Correction: Analyze defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, and systems; develop and implement corrective action.
  • Engineering Source Material Interpretation: Read, interpret, and analyze engineering source material such as engineering drawings, test plans, design specifications/documents, and interact with technical experts.
  • Testing and Data Analysis: Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis and provide related technical input during design review and manufacturing readiness processes.
  • Quality Defect Analysis and Correction: Analyze and work through quality defects to find root causes and implement plans and actions to correct.
  • Design and Documentation: Review engineering specifications and drawings and confer across functional areas to provide and obtain technical information.
  • Design Work and Input: Perform design work for components, shop aids, tooling, and ground support equipment and provide related input during design review processes.
  • Manufacturing Planning and Documentation: Develop manufacturing plans with supporting work instructions/documentation and technique job aids to support initial development and transition to low-rate initial production for new programs as needed.
  • Documentation of Findings and Solutions: Develop appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions.
