Overview:

SSi People is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to enhance our Facilities Engineering and Technology division. This role is essential for the support of facilities critical to our production operations.

As a Facilities Civil Engineer, you will work collaboratively with various engineering disciplines, maintenance crews, and operational teams to assess environmental effects, underground utility frameworks, roadways, and aircraft movement areas. Your expertise will be vital in the long-term maintenance strategy to ensure the effective functioning of the facilities and the aircraft programs we oversee. Your duties will include the design, development, procurement, and adjustment of civil engineering and environmental systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop moderately complex designs, final designs, cost assessments, and provide maintenance assistance for the civil/structural aspects of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems, and grounds.
  • Assist in integrating the efforts of multiple engineering disciplines, external consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Align civil/structural designs with client specifications, building codes, and relevant regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials.
  • Ensure the accuracy of drawing archives by reviewing contractor modifications and identifying discrepancies to comply with regulatory and facility standards.
  • Support construction processes by providing insights on vendor selection, reviewing contractor proposals, interfacing with regulatory agencies, and monitoring project progress.
  • Prepare and present project information to ensure adherence to applicable construction documents and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Produce and/or procure detailed design documents, utilizing appropriate resources to generate project documents according to established parameters.
  • Translate customer requirements into design options with documentation and estimates, identifying suitable materials, equipment, and services through engineering principles.
  • Update design standards and site-specific operating procedures to establish uniform practices.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning decision-making with limited supervision, managing and executing projects.
  • Analyze current conditions and future needs, gathering data to identify and evaluate alternatives and impacts.
  • Collect customer requirements for incorporation into conceptual designs.
  • Engage in code research and initial project scheduling to define project scope.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate project management information, assisting in the documentation and creation of contract scope.
  • Interpret and analyze applicable regulations, standards, codes, and ordinances concerning project requirements.
  • Provide project alternatives to ensure compliance and support permit acquisition as needed.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in civil engineering, construction, facilities management, maintenance, and/or project management.
  • 3+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and construction specifications.
  • 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD or similar software.
