ALTA IT Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant with a robust background in Finance to collaborate with a government contractor.

This is a permanent position with comprehensive benefits. The role offers a hybrid work model, requiring some onsite presence.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of various time-sensitive financial transactions and reports, ensuring compliance with deadlines. Prepare, record, and adjust various journal entries to support Treasury submissions, including accruals, eliminations, and other necessary financial actions.

Take ownership of assigned areas (e.g., organizational entity, program, or functional area), preparing, recording, interpreting, and reporting financial transactions and events.

Conduct regular and special-purpose reconciliations to guarantee data accuracy and prepare financial reports, statements, and related documentation in accordance with prescribed formats to meet reporting requirements established by Treasury, OMB, and other accounting authorities.

Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including disclosures, footnotes, supporting schedules, and consolidating supplemental data to analyze the organization's actual financial performance against established measures.

Maintain clear audit trails from the general ledger to subsidiary records and from the accounting system to interfacing management systems.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards established by organizations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), GAAP, OMB, and GAO.


Skills Required:

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and related financial processes, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

In-depth knowledge of payments, relocations, cash management, and employee travel claims processing. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues. Experience in preparing annual federal financial statements. Experience in maintaining clear audit trails from the general ledger to subsidiary records. Proven experience in analyzing operational internal control structures. Familiarity with Federal Oracle Financials is a plus. A bachelor's degree is required.

Additional Requirements:

Preferred:
At least 3 to 5 years of experience resolving fatal accounting checks and submitting accounting data within designated deadlines.

Preferred:
At least 3 years of experience submitting accounting data within relevant systems.

A minimum of 2 years of experience demonstrating proficiency and understanding of federal or DHS-specific financial management processes and requirements such as sub-ledger and general ledger activity, journal vouchers, reconciliations, accruals, payment certifications, and invoicing.
