The Department of Finance & Procurement plays a crucial role in maintaining the county's financial management and accounting systems, ensuring timely information delivery to county agencies and the public. The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations oversees internal auditing, compliance, financial accounting, budgetary reporting, internal controls, payroll, and accounts payable.

Position Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and analytical professional to join our team as a Senior Accountant. This temporary role will support the transition from Oracle EBS to Oracle Cloud and is anticipated to last for two years. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will manage financial reporting and accounting for the county's capital projects, grants, and debt. Key responsibilities include:

  • Project setup and analysis of capital and grant funds
  • Classification and closure of projects
  • Reconciliations and assistance in the annual audit
  • Support during year-end close and financial reporting processes
  • Collaboration with various departments on complex project issues
  • Preparation of journal entries and reconciliations
  • Research and development of work papers and analyses for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
  • Contribution to other departmental areas as needed

This position offers a hybrid work environment with opportunities for telework. The starting salary will be determined based on experience.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, along with four years of relevant professional accounting experience, preferably in a governmental context, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred qualifications include CPA, CPFO, and VGFOA certifications, as well as completion of GAAP courses. Experience with major ERP systems, particularly Oracle, is also preferred.

Effective collaboration skills are essential, as this role involves working closely with diverse team members to achieve shared objectives. The ability to build relationships, both internally and externally, will be vital for success in this position.
