The Department of Finance & Procurement is tasked with ensuring that the county's financial management and accounting systems are maintained effectively, providing timely information to county agencies and the public. The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations oversees internal auditing and compliance, financial accounting, financial and budgetary reporting, internal controls, payroll, and accounts payable.
Job Summary
The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations is in search of a meticulous and analytical professional to join our team as a Financial Analyst. This is a temporary role during the transition from Oracle EBS to Oracle Cloud, anticipated to last for two years.
The Financial Analyst will report to the Senior Accountant of the General Ledger and will be responsible for the accounting and reconciliation of the county's fixed assets, leases, and subscriptions. Responsibilities include documenting additions, adjustments, transfers, and disposals in Oracle and subsidiary systems, along with conducting quarterly monitoring activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The role also involves assisting with the annual audit, year-end closing, and financial reporting processes. Additional duties encompass recording and reconciling tax revenues, providing support for ad-hoc analyses, preparing journal entries, researching, collaborating across departments on complex project issues, and preparing work papers and analyses to support the completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, as well as contributing to other departmental areas as required.
This position offers a hybrid work model with opportunities for telecommuting.
The starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; three (3) years of relevant work experience in professional-level accounting, preferably within a government accounting environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA, CPFO, and VGFOA certifications, along with completion of GAAP courses, are preferred. Experience with a major ERP system such as Oracle is also preferred.
